Avinurme Cultural Heritage Centre offers a chance to learn local way of life and craftsmanship and to see how craftsmen’s skills are sustained, inherited and developed further. There are workshops held to learn wooden work, handicraft and get tips for cooking local specialities. Aside from picking up new skills and knowledge, the Centres cosy rooms make a good place to relax, enjoy coffee or tea with snacks and chat with friends.
The museum’s exhibition, located in the Cultural Heritage Centre, gives an overview of the Avinurme’s settlement and cultural history. Guests get to know traditional local wooden work, century’s long techniques of making wooden vessels and can enjoy the company of contemporary craftsmen. Everyone interested can join a tour that takes them around in the neighbourhood to see how the local traditional handicraft is produced.
